On a completely non-technical note…. on the way to the US recently for an update at Neoware’s HQ just outside Philly I was getting bored on the flight and couldn’t really settle on any particular movie to watch and started browsing the other sections of the Video on Demand service the Qantas provides (which BTW is very good and has load of choice)
I settled on watching the Top Gear episode welcoming back Richard Hammond and his crash, and then found this video called "Blackwater" about surfing at Teahupoo in Tahiti. OH MY F…….ing GOD!!!! I am not a surfer, the best I can lay claim to is a pretty decent Sailor and Windsurfer - but they are not kidding when they say this place makes the Pipeline look like a kindergarten.
This simply shows the spectators:
The real action starts when you get in to position at the top right, but just check out how the swell is sucking the reef dry in front of it? and any surfer coming through from right to left will effectively surf by almost 5 metres below where this shot was taken from? <<Click on the photo above for the full sized image>>
