I’m starting to wonder what is left for VMware to announce at VMworld? RSA integration, Cheaper pricing for SMB’s and now news that VMware has acquired Dunes as well….

Earlier I noticed Citrix and XenSources road to market just got steeper - VMware’s price bubble coming under threat?  where VMware was making the entry point for SMB’s a whole lot cheaper:

VMware to slash VI3 price for SMB’s
virtualization.info has learned VMware is about to drastically reduce VMware Infrastructure 3 (aka ESX Server & VirtualCenter) price.

In September, possible with a launch at VMworld 2007, VMware will announce a new promotion called Foundation, bundling together three ESX Servers Started Edition and one VirtualCenter (capped to manage those three virtualization hosts) for $3,000.

And now Aleassandro has broken the news about VMware buying Dunes:
VMware acquired Dunes Technologies?
virtualization.info just received a news from a trusted source revealing VMware has acquired Dunes Technology.

If confirmed VMware achieved two goals: making another step towards virtual datacenter automation, given the great flexibility Dunes VS-O automation framework offers, and further enhancing VDI offering after Propero acquisition (Dunes offers a VDI solution called VD-O since one year).

The acquisition, assuming it’s true, is expected to be announced at VMworld.View video

Even before VMworld kicks off Citrix is starting to look like it has a mountain to climb?
